Matthew “Matt” E. Blumer, age 48 of Elk Mound, WI died Monday, July 25, 2011 near Houghton, MI following a tragic motorcycle accident while he and his wife, Ellen, were on a ride in the upper peninsula.
Matt’s family was the most important thing in his life. Not only was Matt a dedicated husband and father, he was also their best friend. Where one went, they all went. FAMILY WAS EVERYTHING. He loved to hunt, ride motorcycles and snowmobile. He could fix anything and his motto was, if I don’t know it; I can learn it. Matt was a self-taught musician. His talents had no boundaries.
Matt was employed by Curt Manufacturing where he met many friends. When he wasn’t working or with family, Matt enjoyed wheeling and dealing on Craig’s List and eBay.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Ellen of Elk Mound; 2 children, Eric (Kirsten King) Blumer of Menomonie and Erin Blumer of Elk Mound.

I only recently heard that Matt had been called home. I remember Matt as a kind friend in school. We had several classes together and really got along great. His is only one of many friendships that I wish I had maintained after graduation. He will be missed.
I visited the website of the funeral home that is serving the family and read his obituary. I was impressed with the large number of expressions of sympathy and notes of condolences from friends, family, and coworkers that have amassed there and continue to pour in.
It was noted in the obituary that a few hours prior to the crash, Matt said, “If the trip ended right now, this ride, right here, (it) was worth it.” That is the Matt Blumer I want to remember. He knew how to enjoy life; he lived it instead of just going through it trying to make a living as many of us do.

Thanks Kevin for posting Matt`s obituary...For many who did not know, Matt was second cousin to Sue and myself....He will be much missed from the family!!
I can remember as kids, playing softball at his grandpa`s farm, along with Sue, and Matt`s younger(twin)brothers, David and Danny, and also another cousin, Jeanette...
I also remember Matt riding up and down the country roads on a mini-bike...even back then he enjoyed motored bikes....
